With more than 20,000 employees, Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) plays a key role in contributing to public safety, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, at our 43 correctional institutions, 91 parole offices and 14 community correctional centres across Canada. Primary Workers / Kimisinaws
- CX-02) play a vital role as the first line of contact for offenders. They handle both security tasks and case management. They carry a caseload of two to four offenders, listen and respond to offenders' concerns, document information and events, participate in case conferences for decision-making and prepare a variety of reports and recommendations.
- A Primary Worker at a women’s institution is comparable to a Correctional Officer II (CX-02) at a men's institution. The Kimisinaw (Cree word for older sister) is a Primary Worker that works specifically at the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge for women offenders.
The Correctional Service of Canada is seeking interest from persons looking for an exciting and rewarding career as a Primary Worker / Kimisinaw in a women’s institution or healing lodge. This role is similar to that of a Correctional Officer I in a men's institution but comes with a higher classification and added case management responsibilities.
We also strongly encourage you to apply for the position of Correctional Officer I.
REAPPLICATION
If you are currently participating in a Primary Worker / Kimisinaw selection process (actively being evaluated or have applied and are waiting for evaluation at any stage) you do not need to re-apply to this Primary Worker / Kimisinaw selection process.
If you previously participated in a Primary Worker / Kimisinaw selection process your previous results may apply and will be confirmed during the assessment stage of the selection process. Please refer to your result letter as waiting periods for reassessment will be applied.
