Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, the Senior Accountant is responsible for processing the company's financial and accounting data, analyzing financial results, and ensuring the quality of all reports produced by the Accounting team. The role involves collaboration with the Controller to develop process improvements and optimize accounting tasks, mainly focusing on financial quality. Administrative tasks related to these functions are also part of the role.
- Manage and prepare certain sections of monthly and annual financial statements (general expenses, accrued expenses, receivables, prepaid expenses, taxes, reinsurance, etc.)
- Verify the accuracy of financial data, reconcile ledger accounts, and prepare journal entries for accounting sections assigned to the employee
- Assist in preparing the annual report and financial statements, and produce various ad hoc reports requiring detailed accounting work
- Collaborate on the internal investment management report
- Participate in internal control testing related to reinsurance
- Review certain sections of monthly financial statements with the Controller
- Maintain documentation related to financial tasks and reports
- Contribute to establishing control and internal verification procedures for accounting tasks
- Ensure tax compliance and the quality of financial reports
- Prepare and distribute files for annual budgets and financial planning, ensuring thorough cross-referencing among files
- Suggest improvements to organizational processes
- Support information requests during audits or tax inspections and perform financial analyses or forecasts upon request
- Provide auditors with data necessary for account reconciliation
- Handle inquiries related to government financial investigations
