Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be established in anticipation of future vacancies. Education :

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree, or both, from a recognized post-secondary institution in translation from English to French
  • Successful completion of English language / writing courses from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of training and / or experience
  • Experience :

  • Recent and significant
  • work experience in the translation of documents from English to French in a professional context.
  • Experience in writing and editing documents in English.
  • Experience in writing and editing documents in French.
  • Experience in working in an environment focusing on high standards of quality and tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-based tools as well as translation-related tools (i.e. databases, memories).
  • Recent and significant experience means experience acquired over a minimum period of 5 years in the last 8 years.
  • The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

    Asset Education :

  • Valid certification from a professional translator’s association (translation from English to French).
  • Post-secondary degree with a major or minor field of study related to the English language.
  • Asset Experience :

  • Experience in translating from English to French for the federal government.
  • Trained as a translator, from English to French, while working at a translation firm.
