WHAT YOU WILL DO
In the Controller role, you will provide leadership and coordination of Company accounting, financial reporting, compliance, internal control, and budget management functions.
You will also be a key financial advisor for our dynamic Operations Team in cost accounting and financial planning processes, supporting the development and delivery of the company's short- and long-term objectives.
We are looking for a team player with strong technical accounting knowledge, business acumen, demonstrated leadership and people development, innovative ideas, excellent communication skills, and a drive to win.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership oversight and coordination of Company accounting processes, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and budget management functions.
- Plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day activities of General Accounting, AP, AR, and Costing.
- Drive operating discipline in tracking and analyzing monthly actual P / l, B / S, and cash results vs forecast, risks and opportunities, gap closing processes.
- Report timely, completely & accurately all financial and accounting information, including financial reports required by Company management, Masco Corporation, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure Company accounting procedures conform with both Canadian and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and are consistent with Company Accounting Policies.
- Monitor, analyze and explain monthly operating results against budget, forecast, and prior year.
- Ensure that all established policies, rules, regulations, and agreements are followed. Ensure that all department processes and procedures are appropriately documented and complied with.
- Support VP of Manufacturing Operations & Engineering and Operations Team in developing financial and cost accounting processes and reporting, as well as financial analysis needed for decision-making.
- Maintain an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of internal controls.
- Administer & monitor various transfer pricing relationships / reporting.
- Recommend and monitor benchmarks for measuring and improving financial and operating performance.
- Coordinate the various tax compliance reporting, including statutory financial statements, and act as Company representative for any financial and taxation audits, both internal and external.
- Review business contracts and agreements with vendors and ensure any accounting and reporting issues are properly identified, addressed, and accounted for under accounting principles and company accounting policies.
- Assist in financial presentations for senior management and multifunctional meetings.
- Keep abreast of current accounting trends, practices, and regulations.
- Develop and coach the team and build the organizational financial capabilities.
- Manage and direct team performance, development, recruitment, and retention to accomplish the department's goals and objectives effectively.
- Other assigned responsibilities.
