How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW
The Reliability Engineer (RE) is an integral part of the development and execution of the reliability strategy and associated reliability programs within Airgas Merchant Gases (AMG) - Primary Production. AMG consists of 15 industrial gas (O2 N2 CO2) production sites across Canada. The RE is a leader in safety and (s)he identifies and manages asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations within an assigned geography and supports the plant managers with the development of projects to correct these reliability risks. The RE must interface successfully with associates across Canada and influentially lead the organization to drive the continuous improvement of reliability in the AMG facilities.
Demonstrate in practice and principle that safety is the top priority for AMG. Comply with all safety policies.
Act as an ambassador and advocate for reliability throughout the AMG organization. Educate on the programs being implemented to improve reliability and the positive results of those programs. Share reliability best practices and flash reports across assigned facilities.
Responsible for reliability initiatives including but not limited to predictive maintenance preventive maintenance and spare parts.
Predictive Maintenance : Development and review of PdM program and schedule. Collaborate with plant staff to ensure timely execution of PdM actions. Continually review PdM analysis results. Propose actions to address any issues identified during PdM surveys.
Preventive Maintenance : Development and review of PM scope and schedule. Collaborate with plant staff to ensure PMs are executed in a timely manner. Review results of preventive and planned maintenance inspections and propose changes to improve reliability.
Spare Parts : Ensure the spare parts program is implemented at assigned plants. Identify critical spare parts needs and justify fulfillment of those spare parts.
Complete various process analysis to identify reliability risks and justify reliability expenditures. Analyses may include :
Fault Tree Analysis
Root-cause Analysis (RCA) and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) including complex investigations
Vulnerability Studies : Assist in performing vulnerability studies and prioritizing action items based on risks to reliability.
Analysis of production outage data to determine trends across the fleet. Propose action plans to address common issues resulting in plant down time.
SIO Predict : Utilize the output of the PRiSM model to proactively identify potential equipment issues. Work with the local plant and maintenance planners to define a plan to address the issue.
Collaborates with project engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
Manage minor projects (upgrades and retrofits as well as plant improvements and expansions) at existing locations in a timely manner and within budget.
Develop designs cost estimates and economic justifications to facilitate the decision-making process at the plant and zone levels.
Generate authorization for capital requests and follow-up on the approval process.
Works with the maintenance planners on development of outage scope ensuring the scope captures any reliability related work and the scope of major equipment overhaul is appropriate.
Provide training as needed to the local plant teams. Training could include use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) technical training etc.
