Tasks

  • Restore and conserve museum and gallery artifacts
  • Examine artifacts and determine the most appropriate method of restoration
  • Research origins and history of artifacts
  • Provide advice on display and storage of artifacts to insure proper maintenance and preservation
  • Co-ordinate the storage of collections and setting-up of displays and exhibitions
  • Provide consultation to museums, art galleries or private individuals
  • Research new conservation and restoration techniques
  • Operate audio-visual equipment
  • Study artifacts to reconstruct past economic, social, political and intellectual life
  • Assist in the research, handling and storage of artifacts
  • Assist with the planning and development of travelling exhibitions and special events
  • Classify and assign registration numbers to artifacts and supervise inventory control
  • Conduct guided tours of museums, gallery exhibitions and historical, heritage and other sites, answer inquiries and provide information
