School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district serves over 5,600 students in 18 schools with a diverse range of programs that are progressive and responsive to the educational needs and interests of students. Support for the growth and development of individual learners through differentiated learning techniques. The ability to work collaboratively with fellow teachers to plan, develop, and implement an extraordinary learning experience for each individual student.The successful candidate for this will have:Training, experience, and/or an understanding of trauma informed practice. A thorough understanding of curriculum and assessment practice in the BC Graduation Program and the ability to use assessment findings to develop and guide instruction. Knowledge and practice in adaptation strategies for various levels of student performance. A demonstrated ability in designing differentiated instructional strategies for use in classroom and other learning situations. Knowledge of Indigenous (inclusive of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples) histories, culture, and contemporary context, allowing for the incorporation of Indigenous content in curriculum and unit planning. An understanding of and/or experience with Moodle courses would be beneficial. A proven ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with a variety of students and school personnel. Support the goals of the District's Strategic Plan and mandate of the Indigenous Education Department. At least two years of successful classroom teaching experience in an alternate school or program would be an asset.
