Job Description : Commercial Associate
Description of the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Associate to join our dynamic team. The Commercial Associate will play a crucial role in analyzing market trends, evaluating financial data, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making within the organization.
Principal Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the container port industry.
Analyze financial data, including revenue, costs, and profitability metrics, to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making processes.
Collaborate with commercial and finance teams to evaluate pricing strategies, customer segmentation, and market positioning.
Monitor competitor activity and industry developments to anticipate market changes and adjust strategies accordingly.
Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing key findings and recommendations.
Prepare approval papers for new customer contracts and pricing.
Assist the Commercial Managers in the preparation of breakbulk and general cargo quotations.
Assist the Commercial Managers in the preparation of commercial presentations and sales and marketing materials.
Support the development of commercial strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and enhance profitability.
Assist in contract negotiations and pricing discussions with customers and partners.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders on process improvements to extract and analyze commercial and operations data.
Develop and create PowerBI dashboards with the support of PSA Halifax s internal data analytics team.
Manage PSA Halifax s customer relationship management software (Salesforce). Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Proven experience in financial analysis, market research, or strategic planning, preferably in the transport, container port industry or related logistics sector.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI and other relevant software applications.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Must be able to create professional presentations and marketing pitch materials using PowerPoint, Canva or equivalent.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
