Job Description
RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
The Women’s Health Research Unit led by Dr. Lucy Gilbert focuses on research that produces practical and immediate benefits for women with cancer. It is active in collaborative multinational clinical trials, conducting 15-20 sponsors and PI-initiated clinical trials for patients with gynecological cancers in addition to academic research.
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of the Women’s Health Research Unit, the Finance Officer is responsible for developing budgets for individual clinical trials, participating in audits, monitoring individual accounts / funds, and ensuring financial oversight to support the clinical research activities of the Women’s Health Research Unit. The Finance officer reports to Dr Lucy Gilbert, Principal Investigator.

General Duties
- Creates and implements financial policies to guarantee operational efficiency,
- Actively participates in all aspects of budget planning and reporting for the WHRU,
- Prepares budget reconciliation and periodic analysis / variance reports,
- Ensures compliance with government, internal and external financial policies, and regulations,
- Acts as the primary point of contact for internal departments on financial and accounting matters,
- Supports the Director and Associate Director with projects and tasks as required.
