Job Summary
The Provincial Coordinator, Clinical Trials Training Program (CTTP) o-develops and delivers the CANTRAIN education, experiential and mentorship programs and conducts capacity building activities for the CANTRAIN platform at participating sites across the province / region. This role requires close partnership with Clinical Trials BC for partnership development and maintenance of clinical trials‘ training and mentoring of clinical trials specialists and students.
This position works in collaboration with Clinical Trials BC and national CANTRAIN to develop and execute creative strategies for virtual and occasional in-person education delivery. The position also will work to develop and leverage opportunities for virtual and in-person capacity building in partnership with local, provincial, and national service providers, and maintain and implement CANTRAIN’s Knowledge Management Strategy.
Organizational Status
The University of British Columbia, along with the provincial partner organization Health Research BC, is a member of the CANadian Consortium of Clinical Trial TRAINing (CANTRAIN). CANTRAIN () is a national clinical trial training program that is being implemented. Its vision is to offer the best, certified, and standardized clinical trials’ training and mentoring program across Canada accompanied by Studentships, Fellowships, Internships for postgraduate Trainees and Highly Qualified Personnel, in a real-world setting.
Michael Smith Health Research BC (), funded by the Government of British Columbia, is BC’s health research agency. Clinical Trials BC, as part of Health Research BC, leads initiatives that strengthen the provincial clinical trials research ecosystems aimed to improve efficiency in research conduct, ensure timely application of research, and support development of skilled research talent.

The national clinical trial training program also recognizes the need for experience, knowledge and guidance from communities disproportionately affected by chronic or rare diseases.
Work Performed
Planning and delivery of CANTRAIN clinical trial training programs / streams and capacity building initiatives to frontline learners and practitioners (50%).
- Identifies new opportunities for the CANTRAIN Clinical Trial Training Platform; engages in capacity building and curates’ sessions for regional, provincial, and national audiences.
- Collects appropriate evaluation data on CANTRAIN educational programs in a confidential manner to provide timely and accurate entries into CANTRAIN’s key performance indicator database.
- Provides support to other CANTRAIN Health Educators in the delivery of programs.
Development of organizational partnerships (25%).
Development of content for education and capacity building programs to integrate CANTRAIN educational, experiential and mentorship activities (20%).
Participates in the Knowledge Management (Mobilization / Translation) Strategy at CANTRAIN (5%).
Consequence of Error / Judgement
The quality and productivity of the research trial, the research team's national and international partnerships and communication, and the performance of research staff and research assistants will be affected. Errors could negatively impact the study and any future grant opportunities, as well as damage the reputation of the Principal Investigator(s), the study, and the University.

Formally trains staff and faculty on work processes and project-specific techniques and methodoligies.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of four years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
