Job description

MacLeod Cares Shiretown Nursing Home is a 53-bed long-term care home in Pictou, Nova Scotia. We are proud to provide compassionate, person-centered care in a close-knit community environment where Residents feel at home.

Operating under MacLeod Group Health Services Limited (MGHSL), we are committed to creating a positive, supportive workplace where team members grow, lead, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of Residents and their families.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide clinical leadership and deliver comprehensive, Resident-centered care that supports the physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological well-being of those in our community. Working within your full scope of practice and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and a physician, you will assess, coordinate, and evaluate individualized care plans to ensure Residents receive safe, high-quality nursing care.

In this leadership role, you will guide and mentor frontline care staff, support clinical decision-making, and promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. MacLeod Cares strives to be industry leading while demonstrating exceptional care for our Residents and their families. You can expect to receive mentorship, training, and opportunities for professional growth, whether you are just starting your career or have demonstrated a lifelong love for helping others.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or recognized Registered Nursing degree
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the applicable province, in good standing
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and care coordination skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to mentor and support care staff
  • Experience developing and evaluating individualized care plans
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Commitment to person-centered care, safety, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience in long-term care or community healthcare considered an asset
  • New graduates and experienced nurses are encouraged to apply
  • A clean vulnerable sector and criminal record check

What We Offer:

  • Competitive wages and benefits package
  • Ongoing education, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities
  • A supportive, inclusive, and team-oriented workplace culture
  • Comprehensive Occupational Health & Safety training and resources to ensure you can work with confidence and care – your safety is our priority
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Residents and families every day

Safety is a shared responsibility. We are looking for candidates who value a culture of care, accountability, and proactive health and safety practices.

MacLeod Cares is committed to an inclusive and diverse workforce. We encourage everyone to apply.

Please note, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Great people are the foundation of our success!
