Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Project Engineer II position in the Engineering Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Projects, the Project Engineer II is responsible for assisting in project management and coordinating capital and special projects in the areas of transportation, bridges, water and wastewater utilities and storm water. The position conducts technical research and produces technical reports while offering design support. This position must have expertise and a knowledge base in a wide range of Engineering, Public Works and Road Maintenance & Drainage activities such as project administration, contract preparation and management, and budget and asset management. The Project Engineer II may also assist with establishing and maintaining aspects of the corporate wide asset inventory of all County assets. The position may also be required to carry out, coordinate, and or support various engineering program activities such as off-site levy infrastructure cost analysis, regulatory road signage reviews, traffic count coordination, in-service road safety reviews and other activities as assigned. The ideal candidate for this position will have the following : A Bachelor’s of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering, Environment, or another Municipal Services related field is required. Formal training in Project Management or Construction Management of Municipal Infrastructure design and construction would be considered an asset. Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is required. Five (5) years of related experience including project management of capital roads, bridges, water, wastewater, storm and other related infrastructure projects with design drafting experience is required. Direct experience implementing stormwater management strategic plans and conducting or overseeing stormwater studies.
- Engineers with less than 5 years experience and / or without P. Eng. designation may be considered for developmental level at Engineer I (see total rewards section for more information). Strong administrative, written and oral communication skills are required. Must possess strong project management, organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills while working both independently and as part of a team. Must possess practical application and knowledge related to utility installation, relocation and maintenance. Must be proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Some database and AutoCAD experience would be preferred. Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required. The total rewards package for this position includes : A starting annual salary of $99,500 to $111,900, commensurate with education and experience, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
- Developmental level candidates may be considered at a lower salary range of $90,500 to $94,100.
