Job descriptionCompletion of Secondary School Cook’s trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience is required 3 years of experience as a chef / sous chef / cook in a Hakka Chinese restaurant In-depth knowledge of Hakka cuisine and cooking techniques Knowledge of cooking different kinds of Chopsuey and Chowmein dishes, Manchurian dishes, different dishes with shrimp, chicken and beef dishes, and vegetarian dishes Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Vocational training or certificate in culinary arts is an asset Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays Ability to manage other cooks Skilled at multitasking and has strong organizational skills

Salary : $ 36 CAD / hour
Duties :
- Preparing and cooking specialty meals and sauces
- Supervising activities of cooks, new staff, students, and other kitchen workers and overseeing kitchen operations
- Instructing cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
- Maintaining food cost and inventory
- Planning menus, creating recipes, and determining sizes of food portions
- Estimating food requirements and costs, labour costs, and monitoring and ordering supplies
- Ensuring every aspect of the kitchen runs smoothly without interruption
- Responsible for advising the owner of any repairs needed and organizing the repair services
- Marinating and cooking specialty Hakka dishes
- May hire and train kitchen staff
- May clean kitchen and work area
