Jewish Federation of Edmonton is a dynamic nonprofit organization that brings together the Edmonton Jewish Community to maximize our collective impact on local, national, and global Jewish life.
This position supports three entities, primarily the Jewish Federation of Edmonton, in addition to the Jewish Community Centre of Edmonton, and Edmonton Jewish Community Charitable Foundation.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Financial Officer manages all full‑cycle bookkeeping and payroll functions. This is a part‑time position of minimum 25 hours per week (salaried or hourly) with potential of additional duties and hours. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain full-cycle bookkeeping for three related entities
- Prepare and oversee the year‑end financial reports for audit and regulatory filings
- Draft the annual budget in conjunction with the CEO
- Liaise with the Auditor, Treasurer, Board Chair and CEO on various financial matters
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial performance to the CEO
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll and related tax slips
- Complete financial reports for grant applications, casino events, WCB, etc.
- Evaluate and advise on processes and new technologies
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place to ensure compliance with CRA and applicable regulations
- Manage and assist in the funding relationships with various donors and relevant organizations locally and overseas
