Job Details Wage range: $43.17 to $55.39 + an additional $9 per hour CASA Classrooms premium Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day Primary location: Slave Lake Union: In-Scope Classification: Mental Health Therapist FTE: 1.0 for the duration of the school year Status: Permanent About the Role: CASA Mental Health Classrooms are CASA ’ s new model for school-based mental health service.

The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child ’ s mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher.

CASA Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.

The Mental Health Therapist will: Work with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality, trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens and families.

Complete mental health assessments, design treatment plans and provide multi-modality therapy for students.

Help caregivers with children who have exceptional needs build specialized parenting skills.

Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.

Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and their family.

Coordinate consultation with others therapists or external partners as appropriate.

Supervise and/or precept student placements.

Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.

  • Qualifications Master’s degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy, or, a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related discipline such as psychology or social sciences, with a minimum of three years of related experience in an educational or mental health setting.

Active registration and in good standing with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.

Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check.

This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) or Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) training, as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
