Job description

Description

My client offers the chance to step into a hands-on field claims position with a strong emphasis on autonomy, sound judgment, and high-quality service. The Field Claims Specialist is responsible for managing moderate to complex property claims, including investigating losses in person, assessing coverage, coordinating experts, and negotiating fair settlements.

The successful candidate will be trusted to manage claims independently while collaborating closely with internal partners and external stakeholders. This role suits an experienced field adjuster who is comfortable making decisions, communicating clearly with insureds, and contributing positively to the broader claims team.

Job Title Field Claims Specialist – Property (Eastern Ontario)

Location Hybrid role: Remote work combined with field-based claims within Eastern Ontario

Reason for Hire Replacement hire due to a current vacancy

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Investigating property claims by attending loss sites such as private residences, commercial properties, and farms
  • Meeting with insureds, third parties, contractors, and legal representatives to gather facts and assess damages
  • Reviewing policy wordings, expert reports, and relevant case law to determine coverage and claim value
  • Evaluating losses, setting and adjusting reserves, authorizing payments, and negotiating settlements within assigned authority
  • Coordinating internal and external resources to support efficient and fair claim resolution
  • Managing escalated files proactively and taking appropriate corrective action when required
  • Delivering a consistently high level of service and clear communication throughout the claims process

Who You Are

  • An experienced field property claims professional who is comfortable working independently
  • Based in or near Eastern Ontario and able to travel regularly within the region using your own vehicle
  • Confident making coverage and settlement decisions without constant oversight
  • A strong communicator who values timely, transparent interactions with insureds
  • Collaborative by nature, with an interest in mentoring or supporting less experienced adjusters
  • Practical, open-minded, and solutions-focused when handling complex or sensitive claims

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education and 5+ years of property claims experience
  • Hands-on field adjusting background (desk-only experience will not be sufficient)
  • Ability to scope damages and prepare repair estimates; Xactimate experience preferred
  • IICRC certification or working knowledge considered an asset
  • CIP designation completed or in progress is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files and priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Well-developed negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

What’s Offered

  • Remote work environment with flexible scheduling
  • No mandatory office attendance
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • Defined contribution pension program
  • Wellness and employee support programs
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Strong focus on work-life balance, including no required after-hours on-call rotation

Salary: $80, 000 to $105,000.
