Job descriptionThe role is performed in a combination of indoor or outdoor environment, in various types of weather conditions The role is required to wear proper safety attire ( eyeglasses, safety boots, hard hat, vest with reflective stripes, respirator, or hearing protection and harnesses) Must be able to work at heights, on occasion and handle loads of over 44 lbs (20 kg) Must have an adequate toolkit containing the necessary tools to perform their tasks Red Seal Carpenter certification (or equivalentprovincial Journeyman Carpenter ticket Ability to plan and perform all the activities related to fabrication and pouring of reinforced concrete for repair and maintenance of concrete structures Capacity to understand and read detailed plans and sketches, prepare supply orders for various types of repair or maintenance work Valid Driver’s License Communicates with impact Collaborates with others and shares information Must have good hand-eye coordination, visual and auditory acuity Any experience / education / skills / knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
Job Summary
The Bench Carpenter is responsible for performing all types of construction work, from carpentry to fabrication of cabinets or concrete pouring. The incumbent is also called on to perform various tasks, including the assembly of modular workstations. The role is required to respond to emergencies and may have to work with other construction trades, as needed. Additional tasks include carry out carpentry work for several days or weeks without having to fabricate any cabinets or pour any concrete.
Major Responsibilities
- Build, install, maintain and repair structures
- Read and interpret plans and drawings
- Measure, calculate and cut material, among other things
- Perform various intermittent duties such as installing flooring ( carpet and vinyl tiles)
- Pour concrete, do construction work with drywall, repair ceilings and raised flooring
