Job descriptionExperience in large‑scale cooking in camp settings, banquet halls, or hotels. Current Food Safe certification (preferred). Ability to commit to a 2‑week on / 21‑week off rotation. Team‑player committed to client satisfaction. Must have valid government‑issued photo ID for travel to site. Physical demands : lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs; climb ladders or stairs; stand, walk, squat, kneel, or sit for extended periods; perform repetitive hand work with both hands; work with arms at full length; work with arms above shoulder height. All meals and accommodations are provided. Travel provided to and from site locations from designated areas in Winnipeg, Thompson, Flin Flon and surrounding areas. Private room with cable television, Wi‑Fi, laundry facilities, gym, and common areas. Excellent work‑life balance with a 2‑week on / 2‑week off rotation. Job Overview
The Second Cook contributes to the overall success of the Culinary team. You will prepare the dinner menu, handling all starch and vegetable items required, ensuring that all product meets quality standards set by Culinary leadership. This role is part of a remote camp lifestyle with rotating on / off schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet daily with the First Cook to discuss menu preparation and production strategy.
- Assist in the preparation of all menu items as needed.
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
- Can be responsible for preparing and serving hot breakfast.
- Replenish dessert and condiment stations as required.
- Assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen and serving areas.
- Can be responsible for assisting with baking.
- Practice correct food handling guidelines and storage procedures.

Work Schedule and Compensation
The 2nd Cooks work on a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on / 1 week off. Site locations are remote, requiring air travel or ground shuttle. Night, weekday, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Wages are hourly with a starting rate of $18.00 per hour.
