POSITION SUMMARY

As an Early Discovery Head Instructor, you will be responsible for providing the lead instruction in the program, as well as overseeing the work of other Instructors in order to ensure a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers.

WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB

• Develop, plan, and supervise respective summer camp program

• Create activities that are welcoming to join/observe aspects of camp (for shy or timid campers)

• Instruct and lead specialized activities with campers and instructors

• Design schedules for activities that allow for the highest quality experience

• Make sure that other programs can be coordinated

• Ascertain lunches run smoothly: planning and execution of activities/shows during lunch periods

• Follow and ensure camp procedures and policies are always adhered including Appleby’s Mutual Respect Policy

• Provide leadership to Instructors, as well as maintains a positive working relationship with all other staff members

• Ensure the safety and supervision of all campers, staff, and visitors

• Provide progress reports, suggestions for improvement, and voices concerns to the Director, Camp Programs

• Maintain high levels of professionalism and public relations, demonstrating a courteous attitude toward participants, parents, staff, visitors, and parents

• Adhered to Appleby College's policies and practices for all facilities, equipment, and programs

• Ensure safe drop-off and pick-up for all respective program campers, maintaining presence at these points; circulating, helping, and answering questions

YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU

• Have post-secondary education or a minimum completion of 2nd year post secondary

• Proven excellence in instructional abilities in program area

• Acquired appropriate balance of “fun”damentals vs education/skill development

• Possess proven team leading abilities (Completion of a leadership program is an asset)

• Are exceptional in verbal and written communication skills

• Possess exquisite time management and organizational skills

• Can demonstrate effective problem-solving skills

• Are able to adapt to changing needs and circumstances

• Have valid Standard First Aid and CPR – C or higher

• Possession of of a Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding would be considered an asset

WORK SCHEDULE

• Friday May 29, 2026 (Evening)

• Saturday May 30 & Sunday May 31, 2026 (Full Days)

• Saturday June 13, 2026 (Full Day)

• Sunday June 14, 2026 (Full Day)

• Camp Session Dates: June 22 – August 28, 2026

• Monday to Friday 8:15am–4:15pm

• Mandatory Orientation: First day of each week, 7:30am–4:30pm
