The Role
Job Title: Intermediate Buyer
Department: Procurement
Location: Edmonton, AB
Reporting To: Procurement Team Lead
As an Intermediate Buyer, you will play an important role in supporting BBE’s operations and customer commitments. This position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt as conditions change.
This position is an integral part of the Procurement team, and to succeed in this role, you must embrace continuous learning to develop relationships with vendors. This will enable you to meet stakeholder requirements, provide superb customer service, and offer unique solutions to the challenges of delivering quality services to remote and northern locations in Canada and worldwide.
You will work closely with internal teams, customers, and partners to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and on time.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to and foster transparent, direct communication, education, and improved customer service enhancements with operations teams and clients.
- Source commodities related to various business areas as required.
- Gather and evaluate vendor RFQs, proposals, and purchase items and conditions.
- Evaluate and submit proposals to external customers and complete the scope of work from the operations standpoint as required.
- Ship orders from the vendor to customers using the BBE portal and carrier portals.
- Analyze and send out reports such as “Open Order” and “Vendor Analysis”.
- Generate and analyze key vendor and customer reports.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the item and vendor master in ERP.
- Ensure relationships with suppliers of goods and services are managed to stay aligned with BBE’s commitments to customers and other key stakeholders.
- Assist in measuring vendor-related KPIs and further negotiate with existing suppliers for better pricing, terms and conditions, and continuous performance improvement.
- Respond promptly to external customer inquiries.
- Communicate with external customers regarding product alternatives, shipment delays, and order updates.
- Process purchase orders and follow up with vendors on delivery status
- Work closely with the warehouse to receive POs and resolve any discrepancies
- Ensure the value of the Procurement function is continuously quantifiable.
- Contribute to BBE’s value change developments to enhance our service offering.
- Commit to BBE’s QHSE standards and incorporate BBE’s values into everyday practices.
- Process orders and communicate with external customers.
- Additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- University or technical school degree in commerce, supply chain or other relevant discipline or experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in purchasing and managing suppliers.
- Product knowledge of industrial MRO and lubricants is an asset.
- Proficient in MS software applications.
- Professional approach to vendor and customer relationship management.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent written/verbal communication.
- Relevant experience in logistics, transportation, operations, or a related field
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced or changing environments
- A sense of ownership—you follow through on commitments
