Who are we?

Robertson is the School of New Work. Our vision is for everyone to have a good life through a prosperous and fulfilling career. Our mission is to empower our learners with the most relevant training and up-to-date industry insights so that they may find fulfilling and meaningful careers.

Description

We are seeking a proactive and highly motivated Business Development Specialist to join our Micro-course Team. Your primary goal will be to drive revenue growth for our microcourse division. Reporting to the Lead, Micro‑courses, this role involves leading all sales activities, including active outreach and building lasting relationships with potential partners and students. You will also play a key part in collaborating with our marketing team to develop and implement innovative, data‑driven sales strategies that expand our market presence.

Overview

The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for identifying and executing strategies to expand enrollment and revenue for our micro‑course offerings. This role encompasses analyzing sales funnels and collaborating cross‑departmentally to drive micro‑course growth. The ideal candidate will be data‑driven and possess strong sales skills.

Responsibilities

Admissions and Sales

  • Recruit qualified candidates for the college's micro‑course programs in a compliant and professional manner; respond to phone calls, emails, and other inquiries from prospective micro‑course students regarding enrollment.
  • Meet and exceed assigned recruitment targets while building relationships in multiple markets.
  • Build relationships while looking for opportunities to transition micro‑course learners to diploma programs.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions Team to establish a structured process for recruiting micro‑course graduates into Robertson diploma programs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a plan to promote micro‑courses to our alumni, offering them opportunities to upskill and reskill.
  • Collaborate with the Lead, Micro‑courses and Marketing Teams to create a feasibility plan for incentives (i.e., referral programs, vouchers) to boost micro‑course enrollment.

Client Relationship Engagement

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and market demands to identify new opportunities for micro‑course development and sales.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all micro‑course offerings, their learning outcomes, and their unique benefits to effectively communicate value to prospective clients.
  • Stay up to date with relevant trends among competitors and industry needs.
  • Identify new business opportunities, build strong relationships with clients, and drive the growth of our company.
  • Investigate partnerships with industry associations, workforce development agencies, or government programs that could support micro‑credential enrollment (e.g., Canada Training Credit, provincial funding).
  • Expand outreach by seeking and building partnerships with industry groups, businesses, and other educational institutions to broaden the reach of our micro‑courses.
  • Engage with micro‑course graduates and alumni to provide information and encourage enrollment in Robertson diploma programs.
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new students for micro‑course enrollments through direct sales, cold outreach, and by developing lead‑nurturing strategies.
  • Explore and implement lead referral programs and other initiatives to increase micro‑course enrollments.
  • Attend relevant events and conferences (e.g., AB ignite initiatives) to promote Robertson micro‑courses and generate interest.
  • Collaborate with the Lead, Micro‑courses, to track sales performance, analyze data, and provide regular reports on progress, challenges, and opportunities to continuously improve strategies.
  • Connect with industry partners, Robertson grads, and Workforce connections to build micro‑course awareness.
  • Collaborative Marketing

  • Collaborate with the Lead, Micros, and the Marketing Team to make monthly / quarterly and yearly proactive marketing plans.
  • Review and provide feedback to the Marketing Team to ensure ad content / webpage development accurately depicts micro‑course offerings.
  • Collaborate with the Lead, Micro‑courses and the Marketing Team to inform marketing initiatives for the Micro‑course business line.
  • College, Division, and Program Activities

  • Attends faculty / staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Participates proactively in performance appraisals.
  • Supports active interdepartmental cooperation with other operational teams.
  • Contributes to and promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
  • Performs other duties / participates in special projects as assigned.

  • Eligibility to Work in Canada

All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. You will be required to provide documentation demonstrating your eligibility, such as a valid work permit or proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.

Don’t feel like you meet every requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway! Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement.
