You will be a part of a motivated team of professionals who are always striving to make our campus a safe, sustainable, accessible, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and community.WHAT WE OFFERFull-time | Continuing | Fredericton | On-CampusStandard Work Hours : Mon - Fri | 7 : 30 am - 4 : 00 pm | 40 hours per weekSalary : $34.05 hourYOUR FOCUSMaintenance, upgrades, and future expansion of the Building Automation Infrastructure throughout UNB, National Research Council (NRC) and St. Thomas University (STU) buildings;Detailed HVAC input for design of various projects including equipment sizing, selection, and coordination of mechanical installations for new construction, retrofits and renovations; andEquipment documentation, operating procedures, administrative and training support to maintain overall consistency within the HVAC / R / M department.Daily administration of building automation operator consoles.Maintains, installs and troubleshoots control system hardware and software for HVAC computer systems and networks.Controls logic configuration support and implementation with DDC programming for existing equipment, mechanical retrofits and new construction.Performs reverse engineering on automation systems as necessary to determine sequence of operation details. Provides documentation for all such information to facilitate and expedite troubleshooting procedures.Maintains the integrity and security of the BACnet® server. Regularly checks for and installs updates and patches as required.Performs detailed heating and cooling load calculations and equipment selection.Provides HVAC system design support for building offices, auditoriums, classrooms, and laboratories including but not limited to fan and pump selection, duct sizing / layout, pipe sizing / layout and coil selection.Maintains records for all device MAC addresses, IP addresses, MSTP networks, and UDP / IP numbers residing on the campus virtual BACnet® LAN. Ensures that any devices added to the LAN abide by the regulations set by the latest revision of UNB BACnet standard.Other duties as assigned.WHAT YOU BRINGDiploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology or Diploma in Industrial Instrumentation Technology or Diploma in Industrial Controls with demonstrated work experience with commercial HVAC systems.Must be registered or eligible for registration with the New Brunswick Society of Engineering Technicians and Technologists.Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in an environment which includes automation system design and DDC programming / configuration, HVAC system design, project management, construction, cost estimating, problem-solving, and general maintenance of control systems.Additional Strengths : Knowledge of BACnet®, LON, TCP / IP communication protocols.Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, the National Master Specification and other related codes are essential.Strong analytical, organization and project management skills.Ability to prioritize and manage a dynamic workload and pay a strong attention to detail.Exceptional computer literacy including proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, graphics packages, and automation system engineering tools.Results oriented, energetic, and professional with strong problem solving skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team oriented environment.About University of New BrunswickThe University of New Brunswick employs more than 3,200 full- and part-time staff, including faculty, support staff and students.
