Market Development Representative- CPG

Greater Vancouver, BC

Are you a driven sales professional with a passion for building brands and expanding market presence across North America? Our client, a National food distributor, is looking for a sharp, high-potential individual to join their team as a Market Development Representative. In this role, you'll play a vital part in expanding U.S. and Canadian retail distribution and strengthening customer relationships while identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities

The next Market Development Representative will be a Results-driven sales professional with a strong track record in executing strategic plans and driving business growth. Brings an entrepreneurial mindset, innovative thinking, and a high sense of urgency to every role. Recognized for outstanding interpersonal skills, a commitment to quality, and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively. Open to travel and adept at building and maintaining strong customer relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead business development efforts across U.S. and Canadian markets with a focus on specialty pet food retail, distribution, and e-commerce.
  • Conduct market research to identify new client opportunities and expand the company’s footprint in key regions.
  • Build strong relationships with decision-makers across retail chains, pet stores, distributors, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve growth targets.
  • Represent the brand through sales presentations, product demonstrations, and promotional strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Operations to ensure go-to-market readiness.
  • Maintain market intelligence on industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory shifts.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and strategic insights to leadership.
  • Negotiate and close deals that support long-term revenue growth.
  • Attend trade shows and industry events across North America to build brand visibility.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, or a related field (additional certifications in international business an asset).
  • 5+ years’ experience in business development, ideally within the pet food or CPG / grocery industry.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. and Canadian retail and distribution landscapes, including cultural and regulatory considerations.
  • Proven success in launching products into new markets or expanding sales channels.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with business development tools, CRM systems, and digital platforms.
  • Analytical thinker with an entrepreneurial approach and results-driven mindset.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel extensively across North America.
  • Valid Drivers licence
