About the Opportunity

The physiotherapist works under the supervision of a CZ Manager and is a member of the interdisciplinary Seniors Care Team responsible for providing service to seniors >65 years of age in the emergency department and community settings. The physiotherapist participates in the triage, assessment, planning, delivery and transfer of physiotherapy services that will support seniors to enhance their independence and function at home. The physiotherapist requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively to the full scope of their practice within a busy multidisciplinary environment. The physiotherapist requires ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and manage their time efficiently. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are required. Experience working in a community setting is an asset.

The physiotherapist provides collaborative, senior centered care across the health care continuum, supporting the physical, psychosocial and emotional well-being of all individuals (including patients, families, groups, populations and communities). This position requires clinical coordination within the team and with community partners. The physiotherapist contributes to the clinical education of physio. students and related health disciplines. The physiotherapist is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy or acceptable equivalent from a recognized school of Physiotherapy
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Maintains current certification in CPR
  • Thorough knowledge of Physiotherapy practice, with an interest in program development and evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated accountability
  • Strong client focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated planning, organization and time management skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
  • Experience in Geriatric Care preferred
  • Strong counselling and communication skills
  • Capacity to achieve a high degree of autonomous practice
  • Ability to work independently to the full scope of practice within a multidisciplinary team context
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required
  • Travel to visit clients in the place they call home within Central Zone is required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.99 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
