The City of Penticton's Utilities Department is in search of a highly skilled and energetic individual for the full-time permanent position of Assistant Sewer Equipment Operator . The City of Penticton Utilities Division keeps our community safe by providing clean, safe, drinking water, a reliable sanitary sewer system and storm water drainage to help prevent flooding. The Division consists of the Water Treatment Plant, Utilities Distribution & Collections Branch and the Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, and under the general direction of the Utilities Foreman, the Assistant Sewer Equipment Operator is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the sewer and storm water infrastructure. This is achieved through routine power rodding of sewer and storm mains, flushing of accumulated manholes, hydrovac of storm catch basins and storm scepters as well as assisting Utility Department with exposing buried utilities during excavation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
- Assist the Sewer Equipment Operator in daily sanitary and storm maintenance including power rodding, flushing, and hydrovac.
- Assist the Sewer Equipment Operator in the application of the annual Root-X program.
- Assisting in the daily tracking of maintenance both in written and digital form.
- Performing Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections on the combination flushing / vactor truck as well as minor routine maintenance.
- Taking part in the daily tailboard talks and related forms.
- Performing all relief duties of Sewer Equipment Operator.
- Performs related work as required including operation of other Public Works equipment and manual labor.
