Summary

Reporting to the Director, Application Support & Operations, the Manager, Enterprise Business Applications will lead a diverse team of IT professionals and managed services providers in building and maintaining AltaLink’s corporate applications, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions, digital workplace, and geographic information system (GIS) environments and practices. The Manager, Enterprise Business Applications will ensure efficient operations following the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) services delivery model within AltaLink’s application pillars which include SAP (ECC 6 EHP 7), Bentley ProjectWise, ESRI GIS, Microsoft (M365, O365, Azure, Power Platform), and additional applications used within AltaLink in its capacity as a Transmission Facility Owner (TFO). This team is critical in leading the organization in achieving strategic business initiatives through the use of Information Technology.

You will be a leader in the Security & Information Services (S&IS) team at AltaLink and will lead through collaboration with the business and IT teams to formulate business strategy, prioritize resource load, provide direction on capital projects, and ensure expert support and ITIL practices operate effectively to support and optimize AltaLink’s application pillars. This will be accomplished through a consultative approach which delivers a clear and concise business roadmap, establishes and improves key application metrics, and supports business process design through the use of application tools. A successful leader in this role will also be able to coach and mentor their key and other key organizational leaders in identifying and building business capability requirements into system projects, working with the S&IS teams to provide leadership on implementation and support plans and ensure solutions align with Enterprise Architecture strategies and corporate objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead application support teams in the operation and sustainment of AltaLink’s application landscape.
  • Lead and participate in operational activities to address incidents and service requests.
  • Review current services to ensure deliverables are met and measures exist to quantify performance.
  • Lead and participate in AltaLink’s maturity in the ITIL model for delivering IT Services.
  • Create financial and resource plans to accomplish organizational and departmental objectives.
  • Report progress to business groups on overall business systems, application pillars, roadmaps and fiscal plans.
  • Propose continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities.
  • Lead teams of application support analysts, developers and functional experts that will support and drive new product solutions for maintenance and enhancements.
  • Manage software licenses, usage models, and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Actively participate in steering committee meetings and work with key stakeholders and project leaders to ensure projects within the program have adequate application support resources and visibility.
  • Work with business units and project leads, as well as external resources, to identify high-impact business requirements and develop them into value-adding programs and projects.
  • Consult with Business and IT leaders and senior executives to improve or implement standard business processes involving systems and technology (e.g. enhance user experience, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, simplify, automate or optimize).
  • Perform post implementation reviews to ensure projected business benefits are achieved and document lessons learned.
  • Leverage experience with process and tools to facilitate idea generation through to execution and operation of application pillars and other business applications initiatives.
  • Ensure effective support is established for sustainment in operations
  • Review current status of system applications and prepare recommendations for system improvements.
  • Review evolving and new technologies, assess the potential to add value and recommend adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences, Business Administration or other related fields is preferred.
  • 10-15 years’ experience with people management, project experience, operational and support experience in information technology or operational technology environments.
  • 5-10 years of ERP & EAM systems experience (with preference for SAP experience), business process and / or system configuration experience.
  • 2-3 years' experience working with the ITIL model.
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP R / 3( FI / CO, TM, HR and BW) and new dimension products such as BI, CRM and APO systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of using SAP & BW in a regulated utility environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with enterprise applications, including :
  • o   Bentley ProjectWise environment,

    o   ESRI GIS systems,

    o   Microsoft (M365, O365, Azure, Power Platform).

  • Experience with other applications (Adobe, SolarWinds) as well as any applications specific to electric utilities or Transmission Facility Owners (TFOs) such as PI, Cascade, and Powerbase would be beneficial.
  • Expertise in software license management.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and participating in cross-functional business system project teams.
  • Strong client service orientation, with demonstrated ability to become a trusted internal business partner.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Negotiation skills and effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes.
