The Opportunity :
We're seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer Bronte Construction's infrastructure projects. This posting is for an existing vacancy in our GTA location. As a key player in our team, you'll be the cornerstone for reducing geotechnical risk, supporting excavation and earthworks activities, and translating subsurface conditions into practical, buildable solutions for the field.
Your Role and Responsibilities :
As our Geotechnical Engineer, you will :
Review and interpret geotechnical investigation reports, borehole logs, and laboratory data to identify subsurface risks and support construction planning.Provide on-site technical support during excavation, shoring, dewatering, and earthworks activities.Act as the primary liaison between Bronte Construction and external geotechnical consultants, drilling contractors, and testing laboratories.Oversee geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring programs, interpreting data trends and communicating action items to project teams.Prepare technical memos, monitoring summaries, and responses to RFIs related to geotechnical matters.Translate complex geotechnical information into practical recommendations for field teams and project management.A Day with Bronte :
Conducting field reviews at active construction sites to verify ground conditions and assess excavation activities.Collaborating with project managers, superintendents, and safety personnel to address geotechnical concerns and optimize construction methods.Reviewing monitoring data from settlement plates, inclinometers, and piezometers to track performance and identify trends.Coordinating with external consultants to ensure geotechnical recommendations align with field realities and project schedules.Participating in pre-task planning sessions and contributing to risk assessments related to ground conditions and excavation safety.Who You Are :
A degree holder in Civil Engineering with a focus on geotechnical engineering from a reputed university or college.At least 3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or construction-phase engineering support, with a track record in interpreting geotechnical investigations and field conditions.Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.) or actively working toward licensure as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).Experience working on active construction sites, preferably in civil or infrastructure projects.Strong technical judgment, accountability, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under uncertain ground conditions.Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
