Mine Engineer, Senior

About Your New Role

Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Engineering, the Mine Engineer, Senior, is responsible for creating, designing, and developing best practices regarding mining engineering processes, procedures, and practices to support the success of departmental targets. You will have a diverse skill set that allows you to support various mine-engineering positions (planning, scheduling, ventilation, ground control, services, and projects). You will role model a safety program that promotes a culture of safety and health of all employees working in and / or with the Technical Services Department.

Your Key Responsibilities

Take on infrastructure projects, feasibility studies, equipment procurement, and prepare packages for capital expenses.

Create & automate reports, analyze data, combine mining costs / economics on mine performance, and provide technical documentation to support decision-making.

Support the mine operation with ice road procurement and resupply through accurate forecasting of required supplies.

Support the implementation of Deswik.OPs with the goal of creating seamless processes connecting mid-range plans with short-range plans and transitioning away from excel based mining data capture.

Work with business partners to calculate mineable reserves.

Engage and interact with business partners across the organization to identify and implement improvement and operational excellence opportunities.

Maintain a high standard of quality in all work.

Assist in the preparation of medium & long-range mine plans.

Adhering to programs, systems, and procedures in mine design that meet industry standards and continually seek opportunities for improved design processes.

Interaction with entire Technical Services team to ensure team focus.

Create a strong safety culture through engagement and empowering others.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must possess a security screening document or equivalent document as defined by The Mines Regulations, 2018. The successful candidate will be required to maintain their security screening document or equivalent document throughout their employment at their own expense and will be required to provide confirmation of same and advise the employer of any changes to, revocation of or suspension of their security screening document during the term of their employment.

Your Knowledge and Skills

Your Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have :

Certificate or Diploma of Technology in Mining with fifteen (15) years underground mining related experience or degree in Mine Engineering, or related field, with ten (10) years’ underground mining related experience.

Experience with Deswik, and Deswik.OPs would be considered an asset and must be well versed in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Power Query, and PowerBi.

About Our Working Conditions

This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
