Overview
As a Software Requirements Engineer at Sonova, you will play a key role in coordinating, creating, and consolidating product development documentation for our regulated medical software. Working within the Software Department, you will collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management and R&D to translate user and business needs into clear, actionable software specifications that help deliver life-changing hearing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Meet with stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of product requirements
- Liaise with Product Managers to elicit, analyze, and document requirements for software projects including hearing aid firmware, desktop fitting software, and mobile applications
- Coordinate with R&D teams to evaluate technical and timeline feasibility, resolving requirement conflicts as needed
- Translate requirements into unambiguous, testable software specifications for development teams
- Collaborate on process improvements, documentation updates, and cross-functional communication to ensure project success
- Perform additional duties aligned with your skills to support software development outcomes
More about you
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Engineering, Science, or Software field preferred)2–5 years of experience in business analysis or requirements engineering in a technology environmentStrong analytical, communication, and prioritization skills with excellent attention to detailEffective collaborator with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilitiesExperience in regulated software development lifecycles is an assetProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Familiarity with requirements management tools such as Polarion is a plusKnowledge of software usability principles or IREB CPRE-FL certification is an advantageThis position requires a minimum of 3 days per week in-office attendance at our Kitchener, ON location.
A minimum of 200Mb / sec download and 10Mb / sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote / hybrid employee functionality at Sonova.
