Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of the Siesto Group of Companies. This role is pivotal in managing accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family office or multi-entity environments, with expertise in real estate, construction, and private company operations.
Key Responsibilities
Family Office & Multi-Entity Accounting
- Oversee full-cycle accounting for holding companies, operating businesses, and investment partnerships.
- Manage intercompany transactions, consolidations, and equity allocations across the family office structure.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation under ASPE or IFRS.
Construction Management Finance
Handle accounting and financial oversight for the construction management arm, which may involve multiple residential development projects.Review work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, progress billings, and ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost allocation for development projects.Monitor project budgets, cash flow, and financing requirements to support timely completion and profitability.Manage lender draw requests, including preparation of supporting documentation, cost-to-complete analysis, and coordination with project managers and banks to ensure timely funding.Track compliance with loan agreements and maintain accurate records of draw schedules and interest calculations.Cash Flow & Treasury
Monitor and forecast cash flow across all entities, including investment inflows / outflows, distributions, and capital calls.Manage banking relationships and optimize liquidity strategies for operational and investment needs.Reporting & Analysis
Prepare consolidated financial reports for family stakeholders, including performance dashboards, variance analysis, and investment summaries.Support tax planning and compliance, including coordination with external advisors for corporate and personal tax filings.Oversee HST / GST filings and ensure proper ITC recovery across commercial and non-commercial activities.Strategic Planning & Advisory
Assist in evaluating new investments, acquisitions, and capital projects with financial modeling and ROI analysis.Provide recommendations on cost optimization, risk management, and long-term financial planning.Team Leadership & Controls
Supervise and mentor accounting staff; establish scalable processes and internal controls.Implement best practices for financial governance, compliance, and reporting standards.Qualifications & Skills
CPA designation preferred but not required.5+ years of progressive experience in accounting / finance, ideally in a family office, real estate, or construction environment.Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS; tax planning experience is an asset.Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Odoo, or similar) preferred.Excellent communication skills and ability to work with high-net-worth stakeholders discreetly.Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities; comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Experience with construction financing and lender relations is strongly preferred.About Harbinger Network Inc.
