The CanCap Group ("CanCap") is a privately-owned Canadian national financial services company with multiple verticals across automotive, consumer, and merchant lending portfolios. We manage the entire lifecycle of the finance receivable — from credit adjudication through contract administration, customer service, default management, and post-charge-off recoveries.
We are a company of innovators. We learn from each other, respect each other, and create together. We strive to inspire our customers by continually understanding them, meeting their needs, and keeping them happily surprised. And we always do so with integrity.
About the role
This is a rare opportunity to build and own the direct-to-consumer growth engine for CanCap's high‑growth refinancing business. As the Marketing Specialist, D2C, you will be responsible for driving customer acquisition and retention through hands‑on digital marketing — managing real budgets, launching campaigns, and seeing the immediate impact of your work on revenue and customer growth.
You won’t be stepping into a mature machine — you will create it. From testing messaging and channels to optimizing the full customer journey, you will define how CanCap attracts, converts, and retains customers. Using data, reporting, and continuous A/B testing, you will shape what success looks like and build the foundation for scalable growth.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
Digital Customer Journey
- Testing and Learning: Propose and help run simple A/B tests on landing page elements (like buttons or images) to see what drives better results.
- Simple Fixes: Implement practical updates to the digital journey to make the refinancing process as fast and easy as possible for the user
- Friction Spotting: Regularly review our landing pages and application forms to identify exactly where customers are dropping off
Paid Media & Acquisition (Lead Management)
- Paid Media Strategy & Execution: Manage the daily setup and monitoring of Google Ads and Social Media accounts to ensure our brand is reaching the right audience.
- Budget Tracking: Keep a close eye on daily spending to ensure we are generating quality leads at a sustainable price point.
- Ad Copy: Write clear, persuasive headlines and ad descriptions that encourage potential clients to explore their refinance options.
Customer Journeys & Engagement (Retention and Conversion)
- Communication Flows: Run and refine the automated email and SMS follow‑up sequences that keep SafeLend top‑of‑mind for interested customers.
- Retargeting & Nurturing: Execute "retarget marketing" campaigns aimed at reaching back out to people who started an application but didn't finish.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure every message sent through our automated tools is helpful, professional, and follows our company guidelines.
Reporting and Performance
- KPI Management: Develop and track core KPIs for lead‑to‑conversion rates, client satisfaction, CPA, and operational throughput, using these metrics to implement operational improvements
- Performance Insights: Help the team understand the "why" behind the numbers by reporting on what ads or emails are performing best each week.
- Data Tracking: Develop dashboards and reports highlighting performance, conversion trends, and client insights to track how many leads we generated and how many turned into funded loans.
- Content Creation: Creating social media posts and educational guides that help build trust with our community and improve our organic reach.
What You'll Bring

- Practical experience using Google Ads and/or Meta Ads Manager, with the ability to confidently build, launch, and optimize campaigns.
- Working knowledge of email and SMS marketing, including segmentation, automation, and A/B testing to improve engagement and conversion.
- A strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build processes, test ideas, and create structure in a growing environment.
- Naturally curious and self‑directed, with a habit of staying current on digital marketing trends and finding solutions independently.
- Highly detail‑oriented and organized, with an understanding that precision in ads, data, and reporting directly impacts performance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and action‑driven messaging.
