As part of Aecon’s Utilities sector, the Aecon Utility Engineer (AUE) team plays a pivotal role in supporting construction through in-house engineering expertise. AUE is seeking a Project Technician (Electrical) Co-op to play a key role in designing and delivering telecom infrastructure drawings that meet municipal and client standards. You'll work with AutoCAD and GIS data to produce permit-ready packages, construction sets, and as-builts, while collaborating across teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely submissions. This is a 12 or 16-month co-op opportunity.
What You'll Do Here: - Assist with design calculations and drawings under guidance, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
- Support the preparation of project schedules, estimates, and construction packages.
- Participate in site visits and surveys to gather project data.
- Help prepare status reports for ongoing and completed design projects.
- Contribute to technical reports for clients and project teams.
- Learn and utilize design software tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and field staff as part of the project team.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the design team.
What you Bring to the Team: - Currently enrolled in an Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering program (or equivalent).
- Strong interest in utility design and construction projects.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and basic design software (MicroStation or 3D tools an asset).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and adaptable to project needs.
- Ability to travel for site visits (as required).
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Reason for Vacancy: New The expected pay range for this role is $20 - $25 per hour Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
