Position Description
As the Cost Accountant, you collaborate with all areas of business as they to pertain to product costing, inventory valuation and financial reporting. As an experienced accounting professional, you will lend your expertise and energy to the sales team, aiding with new product cost estimates pertaining to business opportunities. The Operations team will also look to you for your knowledge surrounding manufacturing costs. And finally you will ply your expertise in coordination with the finance team, regarding monthly and quarterly reporting.
Your supervisory skills will be entrusted in overseeing the senior financial analyst, as you share your insights and ideas with the Head of Finance for the organization.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Take ownership over Request for Costing processes in support of business development initiatives
- Drive costing and reporting processes
- Utilize SAP to manage all of the above
- Use analytical skills to oversee standard costs and variance analysis
- Develop standard and conversion costs, allocation of overhead costs, and activity rates
- Assemble and submit financial reporting according to schedule (monthly and quarterly)
- Aid with annual operations budget in collaboration with supply chain and operations management teams
- Supervise the senior financial analyst
- Assist with internal and external audits if/when required
- Compliance with the organization’s safety policies and provincial and local regulations
Experience
5 to 10 years of related experience, in a similar role, and within a manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- Designated professional accountant CPA, CMA
- Take ownership over quotation process as it pertains to information gathering from cross-functional areas
- Extensive SAP experience in costing and operations analysis, within a manufacturing environment
- Strong computer skills, especially with advanced MS Excel skills and familiarity
- Exceptional attention to detail, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, and able to meet tight deadlines all within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, supervisor, and independent working abilities
