Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview

An externship is an unpaid educational experience. NVA hospitals offer students the opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain hands-on clinical experience. Bowen Veterinary Services is a small boutique clinic on a small, community-minded island in BC. NVA Canada values a supportive environment dedicated to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, and dentistry services.
• Observe / assist or perform surgical procedures and participate in medical management of patients.
• Practice clinical skills and develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Eligibility and Duration

Stipend

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel / living expense stipend. View stipend amounts and details in the stipend program.
