About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help build the next generation of data infrastructure at a $100M+ tech startup in the data management space. You will play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling systems that enable customers to manage, govern, and extract value from their data in real time. This role is hands‑on and high‑impact: you will work closely with product managers, platform engineers, and data scientists to architect modern data pipelines and services. You will help shape the company’s data platform strategy, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance as we grow rapidly and expand into new markets.

What You’ll Do

• Design & Build Pipelines: Develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and streaming workflows that power data-driven products and analytics.
• Architect Data Systems: Build and optimize data lakes, warehouses, and real‑time streaming infrastructure.
• Enable Analytics: Partner with data scientists and analysts to ensure high-quality, well-structured, and discoverable datasets.
• Ensure Reliability: Implement best practices for testing, monitoring, and observability across all data systems.
• Optimize Performance: Tune data infrastructure for speed, scale, and cost efficiency in cloud environments.
• Collaborate Cross‑Functionally: Work with product and engineering teams to deliver data solutions that meet business and customer needs.
• Mentor & Elevate: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and help shape engineering culture in a fast‑growing startup.

What We’re Looking For

• Professional Experience: 5–8 years of data engineering experience, ideally in a high‑growth or startup environment.
• Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, with solid knowledge of SQL.
• Data Platforms: Hands‑on experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and data lake technologies.
• Streaming & Orchestration: Familiarity with Kafka, Spark, Flink, Airflow, dbt, or similar frameworks.
• Cloud Expertise: Strong experience with cloud-native data services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Data Modeling: Understanding of data modeling, governance, and performance optimization for large‑scale systems.
• Startup Mindset: Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities and a strong sense of ownership.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
