CAMH’s mission is to change society’s view of mental illness, eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and embed mental health at the heart of healthcare. The Clinical Care Program seeks a full‑time, permanent Program Assistant for the Crisis Critical Care TX U5 (formerly EPU). Reporting to the Manager, you will support the organization and optimal function of the unit, promote the therapeutic milieu as part of an interprofessional team, and participate in assessment of designated clients. You will assist with direct client care, accompany clients for medical clearance and other transfers, and communicate behavioural observations, assessments, and client responses to care interventions. The incumbent will assume an active role in maintaining both dynamic and static security elements of the program and service, support a diverse and collaborative workplace, and comply with all regulatory and legislative requirements. This position involves shift rotation, weekend work and 12‑hour shifts and is located at 1051 Queen Street West.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have a secondary school diploma and / or relevant courses, 6 months to 1 year of experience in a health‑care related field, and a Personal Care Worker Certificate or be in the process of obtaining a certificate, diploma or degree in a health‑care discipline. CPR is an asset. You must be able to work with diverse clients and staff, possess effective interpersonal skills, and work collaboratively within a multi‑professional team. You should be reliable
