The Engineering services group in North York, Ontario provides mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the commercial, recreational, educational, institutional, and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects are varied and diverse. The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients.

We currently have many commercial and multi-unit residential projects. We are looking for a Electrical Engineer with minimum 10 years’ experience in Electrical design for buildings, including Building Power, Lighting, Fire Protection, Network Cabling, Security, and Communications systems to join our growing team.

Your role within the team

• Provide electrical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates throughout the project lifecycle.
• Preparation of electrical specifications. Obtaining information from equipment suppliers and incorporate in designs and specifications.
• Attendance to client, consultant and contractor meetings.
• Co-ordinating with Utilities and Municipalities regarding incoming services.
• Preparation of schematics, project documents. Preparation of engineering calculations.
• Independent review of shop drawings. Review of quotations from contractors.
• Providing technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.

The ideal candidate

• University degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario (Registered in other provinces is an asset).
• Minimum 10 years’ design experience on various building types. Demonstrated track record of electrical design of complex building systems. Familiarity with design requirements for Building Power, Lighting, fire protection, and Communications systems. Familiarity with relevant building codes including, OBC, OECS, ASHRAE, CSA.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining long term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, growing business).
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills working with employees, consultants, internal and external individuals and teams. Ability to work on several projects at one time.
• Extensive skills with AUTOCAD, REVIT, Word, Acrobat & Excel (Micro Station, Power simulation software and other design tools an asset).
