Our client based out of North Vancouver is looking to add a Financial Cost Analyst to their growing team. Reporting to the Finance Director, Operations, the Financial Cost Analyst will assist in the preparation of internal financial reports and analysis of operating performance. The position will also support budgeting and forecasting of the Operations department operational expenses.

Job Duties

• Maintain operational cost accuracy - work with budget owners to correct mischarges, identify any anomalies and recommend preventive actions
• Prepare detailed analysis of cost variances and monthly trends to align with manufacturing schedules
• Assist in preparation of financial and operational reports; and provide possible alternatives to reduce overhead costs and improve financial performance
• Provide timely support to different parties/stakeholders for annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting input consolidation to meet corporate deadlines
• Perform month end closing duties including cost reclassifications, cost allocations, accruals, and other required activities
• Participate in Yard fixed asset reconciliation and management initiatives
• Identify business process improvement opportunities and participate in implementing solutions
• Ad-hoc reporting as required

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience

• Post-secondary education in finance or accounting
• 1-3 years of experience working in industrial finance or accounting field
• Possess or working towards a professional designation such as CPA is an asset
• Experience with JD Edwards E1 and SAP BI is an asset

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies

• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret detailed information from various sources
• Must be able to maintain good working relationship with colleagues and stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong prioritization and time management skills
• Strong knowledge of MS office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Attention to detail and self-motivated
