Overview
Staff Plus is seeking a skilled and motivated Team Leader to oversee and coordinate operations on the mechanical line for our client's electronics recycling plant. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, hands-on experience with mechanical operations, and a solid understanding of quality control. The specific department's operations to sort the output / input materials from the mechanical line.
This role is vital for ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards are maintained across all activities. The Team Leader will also be responsible for supervising team members, managing equipment, and supporting efforts to uphold a clean and safe work environment.

Pay Rate : $21.00 to $22.00 / hour
Hours : 3 : 30pm to 12 : 00am
Responsibilities :
- Monitor Mechanical area staff and tools throughout the workday.
- Quality control the output / input materials, and ensure that the material is being sorted into their correct boxes and that they aren’t overfilling..
- Operate and monitor the equipment i.e., Help with start / shut down of the line, replace dust drums under the filtration system, help replace bins / boxes, monitor, and regulate the inflow of material (in Eddy Current line), etc.
- Inform the supervisor or operations manager of any issues on the line i.e., jammed conveyor belts, malfunctioning switches, broken tools, etc.
- Ability to identify and learn the different types of batteries and metals.
- Assist in keeping a safe environment by ensuring all safety measures are in place and reporting any dangers.
- Comply with company policies and guidelines, including those of health and safety.
- Understand and adhere to production schedules.
- Requesting Tools & PPE from the Plant Supervisor and distributing them to the team.
- Ensure all Mechanical area staff is wearing PPE at all times while on the floor.
- Collecting and returning of tools i.e., replacement of tools, shovels, broom to its original place after use.
- Accountable for tracking weights, number of skids, and employee productivity. Report findings to supervisor in a timely fashion
- Coordinate and plan the workday with supervisor, and conduct daily pre-start meeting within the Mechanical Area team.
- Assign Mechanical area staff to positions in rotations ensuring all Mechanical area staff are capable of filling in any Mechanical area position.
- The coaching form should be completed as necessary and must be filled out whenever coaching or corrective action is provided
- Report near misses or incidents promptly to the supervisor and participate in investigations.
- Ensure that all machines are running promptly at the start time of shift. In case of any equipment issues, inform the Maintenance representative, Supervisor immediately.
- Promote a positive and productive team culture, encouraging open communication, respect, and collaboration.
- Keep the work area safe, clean and organized; and help with the end of day general clean up across departments.
- Assist other lines with their duties if necessary.
Requirements
Proven experience operating heavy machinery and using power tools.Proven experience working with mechanics, or possessing strong mechanical aptitudeStrong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.Knowledge of standard operating procedures, safety standards, and sanitation protocols.Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly.Physical capability for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or operating machinery.Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial settings is highly desirable.High School education (college / university is an asset).Warehouse experience.Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position.
