Fractional Controller (for the bookkeeping firm)&

(Canadian / US Accounting)

Transcounts is a fast-growing accounting firm based in Langley, BC. We specialize in outsourced bookkeeping, fractional Controller / CFO, payroll, and tax services to small and mid-sized businesses across Canada and the USA. Our goal is to 3x our growth by 2026 and beyond. This role suits someone who’s run their own practice or freelancing, worked as a fractional Controller / CFO, and enjoys scaling operations focused on client success and team development. We’re seeking someone committed to long-term growth and ready to grow with us.

Location : Langley, BC (200 St / 56 Ave) Hybrid&

Reporting to : Director of Accounting (DoA)

• The Fractional Controller manages 10–20 clients and ensures their Finance Accounting functions run reliably, accurately, and with excellent customer experience. You’ll oversee delivery quality across bookkeeping, payroll, AP / AR, and monthly reporting, aligning each client’s systems with Transcounts’ tech stack and standards. A full support team (PL, PM, Payroll Manager, AP / AR) will work alongside you so you can stay focused on oversight, quality, insights, and communication.
• As you grow in the role and consistently manage 20+ monthly clients while maintaining excellent delivery, NPS, and billing upsell metrics, you can progress into the Fractional CFO track. Experience working with eCommerce brands is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee the internal delivery team (PLs, PMs, Payroll Manager) to ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, AP / AR, and monthly reporting.

2. Own the customer experience — removing friction, improving communication, and strengthening trust.

3. Prepare visual, customized reporting (including budgeting forecasting) for each client and ensure consistent monthly delivery quality.

4. Ensure alignment between each client’s tech stack and the Transcounts standard stack, recommending improvements when beneficial.

5. Collaborate with the AE / HoG for upselling add-ons or upgrades when beneficial to the client (support role only, not hosting).

6. Transition to the Fractional CFO role after "20+ monthly clients, while mastering the Transcounts way of working

Must-haves (deal breakers)

1. Hybrid / On-site at Langley, BC (200 St / 56 Ave)

2. CPA or equivalent

3. CRA Rep Account Ability to handle CRA / IRS reviews independently

4. Worked in Public Practice for a minimum of 2+ years - preferably for a Fractional CFO / Controller / BIG-4s.

5. Must have been in Canada for the past 2+ years.

6. QBO / XERO / NetSuite / Payworks experience for 2+ years.

7. Canada / USA Payroll Experience Compliance / Nexus (GST / Sales-tax, WCB, EHT) experience for 1+ year.

8. Emotional toughness interpersonal skills to resolve external dependencies, able to handle demanding clients, government requests, and operational pressure. Strong communication and conflict-resolution ability.

9. Must have independently owned a month-end close (w / visual management reports) for at least 10+ entities.

10. Ecommerce - Amazon, Shopify, A2X, inventory, COGS, multi-channel - (Strongly Preferred)

11. Tech-Savvy (automation mindset) - AI / automation tools, managing client tech stacks, implementing process improvements

12. Ability to meet strict deadlines, Zero-miss compliance, Monthly reporting deadlines, Filing calendars
