Program Director
The Program Director is a key leadership role at Rotary YMCA Camp Presqu’ile, a traditional overnight summer camp serving children and youth ages 6–15 on the shores of Georgian Bay. This position is responsible for ensuring that all camp programs are safe, inclusive, engaging, and aligned with the standards and values of the YMCA, CQRP, and the Ontario Camping Association (OCA).
The Program Director ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality programming across all program areas and plays a central role in shaping the camper experience through thoughtful planning, staff mentorship, and strong leadership.
Key Responsibilities include:
Plan and deliver special camp-wide events, including Presqu’ile Bound and Special Day
Plan and coordinate the daily evening program with support from the staff team
Create and manage program staffing schedules for each camp session
Oversee all program areas, ensuring skill progressions are followed and tracked
Contribute to staff training, program planning, and the development of program resources
Mentor counsellors and program staff, providing timely, consistent, and constructive feedback
Ensure all program equipment is safe, well-maintained, and in good working order
Support the development and delivery of programming in collaboration with counsellors within each program area
Participate in nightly meetings with the Director team
Supervise members of the staff team, including providing weekly feedback and performance support
Provide coverage and support for staff as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional organizational and leadership skills, have proven experience delivering high-quality camp or youth programming, and enjoy mentoring, coaching, and supporting staff growth. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a leadership team are essential.
The Summer Camp Director works closely with and directly supports the Program Director throughout the summer to ensure the success of Camp Presqu’ile’s programs and staff team.
