Design, test, and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by conducting research and applying mechanical principles. Develop cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety and reliability. Create 3D CAD models and detailed shop drawings using SolidWorks. Assist in developing prototypes and evaluating results to recommend design modifications. Participate in mine site visits and collaborate with field operators to gather insights for product improvements. Coordinate maintenance and repair services to ensure operational equipment reliability. Stay current with industry developments by attending workshops, seeking out training, and expanding your technical knowledge. Enrolled into 3rd or 4th year of a bachelor’s degree studies in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent at an accredited institution. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and Lean Manufacturing techniques. Experience or familiarity with 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office. Practical, hands-on background with exposure to machining, fabrication, and assembly. Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and efficiency. Able to work independently or within a team to meet deadlines and project goals. Strong communication skills, with the ability to contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Ability to work full-time onsite in our Vernon Office location. Successful candidates will be required to bring their laptop and project materials for the in-person project walk-through as a part of the interview process.

Join Kal Tire as a Mechanical Engineer Co-op Student and help us design and enhance mechanical systems and equipment that make a real impact. You will gain valuable experience while contributing to the development of products used in demanding industries, such as mining.
