Description
In collaboration with the Supervisor OHS Services & Governance this position is responsible for managing the technological infrastructure data systems and analytical processes that support the Countys occupational health and safety programs. This role ensures that data is effectively gathered evaluated and utilized to meet legislative and program requirements and to drive continuous improvement. As Supervisor you will lead a team of dedicated OHS professionals who support various County departments and will also provide direct OHS support to Human Resources and the Chief Commissioners Office.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead mentor and coach a team of embedded OHS professionals to deliver consistent high-quality safety services across the organization
- Set clear goals foster accountability and encourage innovation and continuous learning
- Align team efforts with strategic priorities and allocate resources effectively
- Provide expert interpretation of OHS legislation and ensure compliance across departments
- Support the rollout and evaluation of the Countys OHS Program through training consultation and monitoring
- Represent the OHS function in cross-departmental initiatives and leadership forums
- Oversee OHS data management systems collaborating with HR Systems and ITS to ensure scalability usability and compliance
- Manage vendor relationships system configuration and technical support
- Establish standardized procedures for capturing and validating OHS data across departments
- Develop dashboards and reports to inform decision-making at all levels
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents near misses hazard assessments and corrective actions
- Using technology integrate data from multiple sources (e.g. HR systems training platforms inspection tools) into a centralized repository
- Develop and maintain documentation for data governance policies and procedures
- Assess programs effectiveness using data and benchmarking against industry standards
- Analyze historical and real-time data to detect patterns in incidents injuries and compliance gaps
- Generate predictive insights to proactively address emerging risks and hazards
- Present data-driven recommendations to leadership to support strategic planning and resource allocation
- Provide direct OHS support to Human Resources and the Chief Administrative Officers Office
Qualifications and Skills :
Post-secondary degree or diploma in OHS or a related field such as occupational hygiene or health sciences combined with a minimum of 7 years related experience is requiredProfessional certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) in good standing is requiredPublic service sector and / or organization-wide health and safety experience preferredExperience with or certification within the Incident Command System is an assetProgressive experience in OHS leadership including team management and program implementationDemonstrated working knowledge and awareness of the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act Regulation and Code WCB-Alberta legislation and processes COR program is requiredKnowledge of disability management programs is an assetDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of OHSMS and the internal responsibility systemExperience developing and implementing occupational health programs is requiredProficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and HRISExperience with OHS data management systems and safety analyticsExcellent communication collaboration and leadership skillsProven ability to drive process improvements and foster a strong safety cultureStrong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to facilitate groups influence without authority and demonstrate effective leadership behaviorsExcellent communication skills including active listening paraphrasing and engaging diverse audiences; political acumen and technical writing skills are considered assetsProven time management abilities with the capacity to handle heavy workloads competing priorities and frequent interruptions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detailAdvanced research analysis and project management skills with strong analytical capabilities to interpret and manage complex information from multiple sourcesDemonstrated ability to influence lead and motivate subject matter experts to fulfill their OHS responsibilities in alignment with County programs legislation and defined timelinesConditions of Employment :
