Introduction
We are seeking an Intern – Dewatering Testing Center Support to join our Dewatering Testing Center team. You will be responsible for assisting with facility setup, organization, maintenance, and hands-on support during dewatering test work activities, which involves preparing equipment, maintaining safe workspaces, and helping ensure smooth test execution. Your role plays a crucial part in supporting daily facility operations and contributing to the successful delivery of high quality dewatering test work, which will positively impact our operational efficiency and technical accuracy.
In this position, you will report to the Dewatering Testing Team Lead.
This position is mainly located in Sudbury, and travel requirements are minimal, generally ranging from 10–20% as needed for specific project or learning objectives.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of dewatering and laboratory testing specialists dedicated to supporting innovative testing methodologies and delivering reliable, high quality data for customers and internal stakeholders. We are currently working on projects involving Thickening, Clarification, Inclined Plate Settling, Pressure Filtration, and Vacuum Filtration, along with continuous improvements to Standard Operating Procedures and safety practices.
We work closely with internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Health & Safety, and Laboratory Operations, as well as external partners when required. Our team culture is all about safety, collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence. Team members are primarily located in Sudbury, with collaboration extending across various Metso Outotec facilities.
What you’ll do
- Assist with facility setup, organization, and routine maintenance.
- Prepare and organize equipment for testing activities according to Metso Outotec standards.
- Support the Dewatering Testing Team during Thickener, Clarifier, IPS, Pressure Filtration, and Vacuum Filtration test work.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and well organized testing environment.
- Contribute to updating and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and health & safety initiatives.
- Assist with documentation and record keeping for test activities.
- Perform general facility tasks, including equipment cleaning and minor maintenance.
Who you are
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a relevant degree program (Mining or Chemical Engineering preferred).Strong commitment to health and safety practices.Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.Able to apply logical and scientific thinking to troubleshoot and support testing operations.Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal partners.Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.Willingness to learn technical material and adapt to fast paced or high pressure situations.Able to work in physical testing environments, including handling 50 lb buckets and maneuvering around equipment.Nice to have :
CSA and / or CCIL laboratory testing certifications.Previous experience in the mining industry or laboratory environments.What's in it for you
