Position : System Administrator
Location : Remote work arrangement. Toronto, ON
In This Role You Will
- Be responsible for assisting with support and maintenance of infrastructure platforms (such as O365, Teams, SharePoint, audio / video, cloud, networking and IT security).
- Provide a cyber security lens on activities of IT team members and IT partners responsible for GGC’s network, infrastructure, cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS and support to our end users.
- Identify and recommend risk mitigation strategies for IT systems and processes.
- Assist the Information Security Analyst with vulnerability scanning and risk assessments.
- Ensure network infrastructure, IaaS, PaaS is securely designed and configured.
- Configure, monitor, and respond to incidents from IT system monitoring tools including security event management.
- Collaborate with data systems, IT projects, digital transformation, applications and systems integrations, developer teams and vendors on various projects and day-to-day work.
- Mentor, guide, and train more junior IT staff.
- Identify user experience pain points and make recommendations for process / system functionality improvements.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure systems comply with policy and regulatory security and privacy requirements.
- Maintain IT knowledge base, system and process documentation, user guides, configuration documentation and instructional manuals.
- Oversee administration of identity and access management to IT infrastructure and privileged information stores (including file shares, SharePoint, applications).
- Provide support on escalated tickets when required.
- Apply technical expertise to make changes, resolve issues, and guide the IT team with Azure and physical infrastructure work.
- Participate in developing and implementing strategies to innovate, improve efficiency and effectiveness of IT processes and solutions and adherence to best practices.
- Identify cost optimisation opportunities for IT systems and infrastructure.
- Maintain qualifications and continuous learning relevant to your role.
- Raise awareness within the IT team and wider organization of current and evolving cybersecurity risks.
- Monitor for new vulnerabilities across systems and ensure prompt mitigation.
- Apply organizational policies regarding inclusivity to IT processes, communication, and customer queries.
- Ensure patch management activities are performed in a timely manner.
- IT lifecycle management.
- Assist with managing and ensuring GGC has the necessary licenses for IT systems.
- Support projects and initiatives with design and implementation of necessary infrastructure.
- Ensure quality and appropriateness of solutions prior to deployment.
- Ensure adequate disaster recovery preparedness across IT systems.
- Apply organizational policies regarding inclusivity to content, member communication and customer service.
General
Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.Liaise with other departments as required.Provide general, ongoing support to members / volunteers, responding to inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups to support the mission and vision of GGC.Other duties as assigned.You Are The Ideal Candidate If You Have
Education, Designations and Certifications
Post-Secondary degree in IT or related discipline.Prior Work Experience
5+ years of experience in an IT generalist role or multiple roles spanning network, infrastructure, endpoint, IaaS, PaaS.A minimum of 1 year’s experience implementing MS Azure Infrastructure.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Intuitive demonstrable understanding of IT security and risk identification and mitigation.Experience with a SIEM solution.Computer software proficiency with MS Office Applications.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.You embody the attributes of our core DNA – welcoming, imaginative, courageous and enthusiastic.Benefits
