Location : Golden Detachment

Shift Times : Will be on a as needed basis - Days, Evenings, and Overnights

Pay Rate : Starting at $22 / hr

Position Summary

Commissionaires BC is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our teamas a Casual DetentionGuard at the Golden RCMP detachment. Under the guidance of the RCMP Members responsible for Cell Block Operations, you will be entrusted with the safety and well‑being of persons in custody, along with other key duties.

Important : Applicants must reside within a 60‑minute drive of the detachment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Surveillance : Regularly observe and check prisoners, including monitoring via CCTV.
• Assistance : Aid RCMP members as requiredand manage meal organization.
• Record Keeping : Maintain a detailed prisoner activity logbook.
• Cell Maintenance : Ensure cleanliness of cells and conduct searches before and after occupation, reporting any damage.
• Security : Maintain cellblock security, ensuring cell doors are always locked and personal effects are secured.
• Fire Safety : Monitor and adhere to fire safety protocols.
• Medical and Laundry : Handle and dispense approved medications and laundry itemsunder direction of RCMP members.
• Miscellaneous : Perform additional duties as required by the detachment.

Qualifications

Have you been living in Canada for the last 5 years, without having been out of the country for more than 6 months at a time?

Do you have a valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA1) certificate?

How far do you live from the RCMP Detachment? Could you be there within 60 minutes of a call‑out?

What would be your availability for work?

The security clearance process for this position can take up to 6 months or longer. Are you prepared to wait 6 months before you can start working?

Are you or one of your immediate family members a Veteran or actively serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Allied Forces, RCMP or Police?
