THE ROLE
STRIVE have partnered with a well-established, privately held organization with a growing portfolio of operating entities is adding an Accounting Manager to take ownership of its accounting operations. The Accounting Manager role offers real autonomy, visibility with senior leadership, and the chance to shape processes in a cost-tracked, multi-entity environment where accuracy, accountability, and follow-through genuinely matter.
The client is looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager who likes being close to the numbers, understands how costs flow through complex initiatives, and takes real pride in running a clean, reliable month-end. You enjoy leading a small team, partnering with operators outside of finance, and improving processes.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the month-end close across multiple entities, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent financial reporting
- Review and prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany transactions
- Act as the primary accounting contact internally and externally, providing responsive and professional support
- Oversee cost-tracked, project-based financial activity, ensuring costs are accurately captured, allocated, and reconciled
- Partner cross-functionally to support billing cycles, maintain accurate cost reporting, and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain strong controls over purchasing and invoice processes, including approval workflows and three-way matching
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team with a hands-on, player-coach approach
- Take ownership of team deliverables, balancing execution with coaching and performance development
- Prepare and review internal and external financial statements in accordance with ASPE
- Support year-end activities and regulatory filings, ensuring compliance and accuracy
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, efficiency, and reporting quality
- Act as a subject matter expert on accounting systems and support system enhancements as needed
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
CPA designation is an asset10+ years of progressive accounting experience with proven leadership experience.Experience in project-based or cost-tracked accounting environmentsComfortable working across multiple entities and related-party activityDetail-oriented, accountable, and collaborative with great communication skills.
