About the Role
Colt Canada Corporation is seeking a Technical Buyer to support end-to-end sourcing of products and services critical to our operations. This role is responsible for managing all phases of the sourcing process—identifying qualified suppliers, driving cost-saving initiatives, negotiating strategically, and ensuring uninterrupted supply in support of company objectives.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, supplier management expertise, and a collaborative mindset to build sustainable, value-driven supplier partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute procurement strategies aligned with company goals, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products and services.
- Lead supplier negotiations to achieve optimal cost, quality, service levels, and long-term “win-win” relationships.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and create competitive sourcing environments.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, cost structures, and competitive positioning using industry cost models.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to proactively identify risks and opportunities within the supply base.
- Support short-term and long-term planning, including budgeting activities aligned with strategic business objectives.
- Develop and manage supplier performance programs, including KPIs, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product availability.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.3–5 years of experience in purchasing or strategic sourcing, plus 3+ years of relevant operations or supply chain experience.Prior experience as a Buyer in an automotive or engineered products manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.Experience working with contract manufacturing vendors.Strong preference for metal parts and components sourcing experience.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Skills & Competencies
