Job Description
Responsible for auditing, inspecting, and verifying the safety planning, organization, and implementation of safety activities related to the prevention of accidents and occupational injuries on construction sites. Advise and make recommendations to the team as well as project supervisors and management on safety matters. Assist the company in maintaining its different certifications by ensuring compliance, spot auditing, identifying gaps, outlining an action plan, and providing input in the development of policies, programs, documentation, and training resources for the safety team, management, supervisors, and workers to achieve success.
Requirements
- Completion of a College or University program related to Safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively when working within teams.
- Previous work experience in ON on tunneling projects and / or underground mining.
- Work on large Construction / Industrial sites specifically in Ontario; preferably on a broad range of work involving labour and equipment operation, surveying / engineering, traffic control, quality control, project support / supervision, and trades.
- Proficiency in the use of computer-related business tools such as Microsoft Office.
- Occupational Health and Safety training related to applicable Acts and Regulations, and an understanding of the background related to the requirement to explain the reasons why things are done when questioned.
- Other standard safety-related certifications (or the ability to achieve them).
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively when working within teams.
- Mine Rescue Certification, work experience with road headers, certified instructor in fall protection / confined space considered an asset.
- CSA Advanced First Aid.
