About the Role
The Department of General Education invites applications for contract lecturer positions in the area of Communications, commencing September, 2024.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering foundation level course(s) (1403 : Writing in a Digital Context : Language, Media, Culture, and 1404 : Writing about Images) that fall primarily into General Education’s Cluster-Four, Communications .
We are especially interested in a qualified candidate with a well-developed understanding of liberal education in general and able to identify and address key debates under the Cluster’s thematic orientation.
The Department of General Education delivers the General Education programme within all of Mount Royal’s baccalaureate degrees.
The General Education programme is organized around four thematic clusters. The aims of those courses taught in the Communications cluster are to :
focus on the development of an undergraduate level of proficiency in written and oral communication across a range of media.
They further facilitate the development of a capacity for critical reflection upon various communication media and their uses.

Qualifications :
Qualifications include a completed (or be close to completion) PhD or terminal degree in the area of communications (such as English, digital literacy / culture, visual arts, cultural studies, Indigenous studies, rhetoric / composition, media / film studies, etc).
However, an MA will also be considered .
